What's in a name

so I'm trying to explain
what's in a name

to make me wish for Scottish rain
and hate the rain we have at home

no doubt Scottish rain is all the same
as common Bulgarian rain

and maybe even colder.

no doubt there's more fog out on the street,
that'd make it hard for me to breathe,

but of this I know nothing,
because I've never been to Scotland

(only in Germany for a short while,
and that in July)

and this is what makes
Scottish rain
different
-
the name.

yet changing the name won't change the thing,

a cat may call herself a lioness,
but a cat she will still be.

an apple is no magic glass,

the umbrella is no sword,

and rock stars
don't have rainbows in their eyes.
